Experimental and numerical assessment of a steel frame equipped with Dissipative Replaceable Bracing Connections

In the last decades, high priority has been given by research community to development of low-damage structures, and reparability become fundamental for minimizing environmental economic impact reconstruction. this context, European Research Fund Coal Steel (RFCS) project DISSIPABLE was carried out, with aim test large-scale structures where dissipation is concentrated on replaceable components introduced in structure. paper, performance a six-storey braced steel frame dissipative systems analysed. The capacity withstanding seismic actions relies Dissipative Replaceable Bracing Connections (DRBrC), used brace-column joints. energy ensured wide hysteresis loops experienced DRBrC, whose configuration enables an easy replacement after medium-high intensity earthquake. Results experimental campaign full-scale numerical analyses refined models are presented compared. particular, data were validate calibrate simplified laws represent cyclic it proved effectiveness using formulation from both theoretical practical point view.
